Our Minister - Rev Jo Brown

I was delighted to be stationed to the new North Cheshire Circuit in September 2019 and for Tarvin to be our new home and where one of my seven churches is situated.

I grew up in rural North Yorkshire immersed in the life of a small village and church, and active within the circuit in many different ways – Singing in choirs (I don’t have the Top Soprano voice I once had!), a lot of ecumenical involvement in the village and local town and supporting other circuit churches.

I was always interested in art and design at school. I then trained as a traditional furniture designer and maker; I have also worked as a picture framer and in a couple of warehouses driving fork lift trucks! Yes really – fork lift truck.

I love walking, exploring the countryside and photography – often all at the same time, and normally with Cagney and Lacey. They enjoy joining me for some services, so if you are happy for them to join us, do say. Cagney and Lacey also enjoy pastoral visiting and are happy for appointments to be booked with them! Also, if you know of some good walks in the area we are always looking to explore new places.

My journey of faith so far has taken me to places like Ghana and Benin in West Africa to Tamil Nadu in India, from beginning to explore ministry at Cliff College, to Wesley Study Centre in Durham to study as a student minister.

I have come from the Huddersfield Circuit in the Yorkshire West District where I had a rural appointment to start with around Holmfirth, the home of Last of the Summer Wine, then a couple of years in I took on a couple of churches in Huddersfield Town adding a bit more variety into my day to day ministry.

I am really looking forward to sharing the next stage of my journey of faith alongside yours here in Tarvin.

Blessings

Jo
